• Sony delivers additional industry firsts in HD Visual Communication

Sony PCS XG80 V2.03 delivers industry-leading, video conferencing sound and HD image quality, even under unreliable network conditions.

Sony Australia today announces the Sony IPELA™ PCS XG80 V2.03, a high definition (HD) video conferencing terminal that delivers industry-first capabilities. These include CD-quality MPEG4 AAC LC and reliable HD Video transmission over either a public IP network or ISDN (with 768Kbps bandwidth). This addition to the award-winning Sony video conferencing range offers businesses the flexibility of selecting HD or mixed-format audio environments. With its backwards compatibility, users can opt to connect with HD video quality via the growing number of affordable high bandwidth connections or with older, SD legacy systems over IP and/or ISDN.


The PCS XG80 V2.03 supports existing and emerging video conferencing applications including immersive, room and personal HD 3D telepresence, broad-scale desktop video collaboration, specialised industry applications and traditional video conferencing.


“With dual stream functionality you can send two separate streams of live HD information in parallel. Both the live camera view and an animated PowerPoint or HD video appear on two separate screens at the remote site along with CD quality sound,” said Phil Rothwell, Video Conferencing Product Manager, Business Solutions Division, Sony Australia.

The Sony PCS XG80 V2.03 uses built-in Quality of Service (Intelligent QoS) to maintain a connection, even in low bandwidth conditions, with more than 10% packet loss within network environments.”
